Preventing Corrosion of Aluminum Metal with Nanometer-Thick Films of Al2O3 Capped with TiO2 for Ultraviolet Plasmonics

چکیده
Extending plasmonics into the ultraviolet range imposes use of aluminum to achieve best optical performance. However, water corrosion is a major limiting issue for UV plasmonics, as this phenomenon occurs significantly faster in presence light, even at low laser powers few microwatts. Here we assess performance nanometer-thick layers various metal oxides deposited by atomic layer deposition (ALD) and plasma-enhanced chemical vapor (PECVD) on top nanoapertures protect against photocorrosion. The combination 5 nm Al2O3 covered TiO2 capping provides resistance performance, while single 10 SiO2 or HfO2 good alternative. We also report influence wavelength, operation mode pH solution. Properly choosing these conditions extends which nanostructures can be used. As application, demonstrate label-free detection streptavidin proteins with improved signal noise ratio. Our approach beneficial promote long-term stability nanostructures. Finding appropriate nanoscale protection key enable development plasmonic applications chemistry biology.

Plasmonics in the Ultraviolet with Aluminum, Gallium, Magnesium and Rhodium
Ultraviolet plasmonics (UV) has become an active topic of research due to the new challenges arising in fields such as biosensing, chemistry or spectroscopy. Recent studies have pointed out aluminum, gallium, magnesium and rhodium as promising candidates for plasmonics in the UV range. Aluminum and magnesium present a high oxidation tendency that has a critical effect in their plasmonic perform...
متن کاملconstruction of vector fields with positive lyapunov exponents
in this thesis our aim is to construct vector field in r3 for which the corresponding one-dimensional maps have certain discontinuities. two kinds of vector fields are considered, the first the lorenz vector field, and the second originally introced here. the latter have chaotic behavior and motivate a class of one-parameter families of maps which have positive lyapunov exponents for an open in...
15 صفحه اولAluminum for plasmonics.
Unlike silver and gold, aluminum has material properties that enable strong plasmon resonances spanning much of the visible region of the spectrum and into the ultraviolet. This extended response, combined with its natural abundance, low cost, and amenability to manufacturing processes, makes aluminum a highly promising material for commercial applications. Fabricating Al-based nanostructures w...
